LOL Glen!

The sun at least rises out of the water during certain times of the year, as does the moon.

This is so nice, what a lovely home, and what a view!! Thanks for sharing this with us!

One question Rob, I like the look of the roofing! Is there insulation between the metal roofing and the interior wood slats? Just wondering how the rain will sound.

Aloha Mella, There is just tar paper, radiant barrier (which is super thin like foil), and purlins above the T&G. The T&G is 1.5 inches thick. Will be interesting to see how much you hear the rain. I hope I do hear it because love that sound.

Bob pointed out that we're not seeing any roof overhang. How does that work? What size overhang will you have?

The roof isn't done yet. There will be 3' overhangs.

Page updated again today 5-11-08. Roof and siding being completed. Lots of progress recently.

wow rob, love that extra large lanai you are putting in and all the french doors and floor to ceiling windows, that really makes a difference....i also like the interior tongue and groove ceiling, it really makes a big impact - are you also putting in wood floors? What is your target date to complete?

Is that your new sweetie dog?

Aloha Noel,
Well I can't take credit for much of it since it was a package design.I added the french doors where a slider was. The slider allows a nicer view but I've always wanted french doors. I will probably do bamboo for floors, one of the darker colored ones. Slate in the bathrooms. My target date to complete was July, but if it's done by late August I'll be lucky. That is my new dog is Alfie, but he's gained about 15 pounds since that picture and finally looks healthy.

I updated the page again today (5-22). Framing is complete! [Smile] Catchment tank is getting installed Monday, plumbing starts tomorrow, and electrical has already started.

It is so fun to watch someone's dream materialize. Getting much closer now -- you must be pretty proud and excited. A lanai that deep and wide leads to reverie. In fact, it's leading me to reverie right now.

Okay, back to reality.

I'm jealous, I won't be building for at least five years.
