San Antonio is a really historic, attractive, and vibrant city with an undervalued real estate market. (How many of those are left in the USA?) Several of my more clever relatives have gone together and invested in rental properties there despite living over 200 miles away. My cousin Marshall goes down there every month or so to keep things fixed and deal with turnover, etc. Marshall, btw, is coming to the Big Island to get married next year, and I get to be in the wedding.
Cheers,
Jerry

StillHope, Dimmit is remote. Really, really remote and desolate, but with some nice people who are always ready to help each other out. I hope Maggie is joking about getting killed by Mexicans. My experience with Latinos in Texas was that they are hard-working and no more prone to violence than the rest of the Texans. (Maybe less so.) Of course there are some gangs and drug running, but that is kept mostly within a certain subculture.
Cheers,
Jerry

I've been lurking this forum for a good year now, and I've seen some pretty funny things regarding people's statements about the island, and about Puna imparticular, but this one seriously takes the cake.
"We're beginning to regret our choice of state and we haven't even got there yet...
it better have some really good beaches and weather!"
That's even better than shipping your things from LA to a rental in Nanawale without having ever set foot on the island!

Thank you,Jerry. So far all Mexican people I've met here in CA-very friendly, nice hard working people. My friend's daughter is engaged to a Mexican guy, originally from Texas where they want to move since the guy owns a small house there. That's why I asked. As far as Maggie is concerned,it's more likely she was joking.
She posted her real picture and the link to her website with her real name.So posting something like that on the internet openly-must be a joke.
