PO Boxes
#1
We are moving to Keeau soon and I NEED to get a PO Box set up. I was told that Keeau has a year waiting list! Pahoa is 30 - 60 days. Does anyone know about Kurtistown? I can't find a phone number anywhere. I will most likely be working in Hilo but can't find actual phone numbers for the post offices there either. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Linda

You can get your mail sent to "General Delivery" while you wait for a Box. We waited for about 14 months if I remember right.

Does anyone know what is the situation with Sea View?
And in general - is it possible to do it in advance?
I mean before relocating?

To get the phone numbers you have to call the 800 # and ask for the local office # I believe boxes are available in Hilo 50.00 a year? zip is 96720 or maybe 96721

Not sure what subdivision you are in, but you'll want to know that before applying.
Like if you live in Ainaloa you defiantly do not want to have to go to Kurtistown to get mail.
30 days is great! grab it.

There's a mass exodus going on so you may get a box sooner than you think.

To get any box in any subdivision you have to apply at the post office that handles that areas mail. Seaview is handled by Pahoa I believe.

It does suck for many folks like our neighbors up near the farm that have to drive more then 20 miles r/t just to check their mail.

Especially with the cost of gas.

They have learned to only check there mail occasionally or when they are in Pahoa town for business.

Hilo post office, out by the airport has boxes available. I believe we pay $27 every six months.
