Been lurking for a year now and thought someone might enjoy pics of my house. We love our multi-facetted home. We mainly chose it because my wife has chemical sensitivity issues which is why we are in Puna in the first place. No pressure treated wood, just cedar and redwood. We love the Mahogany doors that come with the Kit. A bit more money than an HPM kit but we just love the uniqueness and openess of our house.
A few photos are here.

A big Mahalo for all the advice I've gleaned from you guys and to all those who shared their experiences.
I'm slow in responding to questions as I'm on dial-up. (no dsl on my block[xx(]) But I'll get to you if you have burning questions eventually.
To sum up the building experience. I loved it, my wife hated it. Couldn't have pulled it off without the help of the great friends I've made here. Took 2x as long as I figured. Inspectors were pretty helpful and fair. Cost more than I hoped for. The construction loan cost way to much and refinancing with the current mortgage crisis was a bear.

Very nice job!
Two questions how long did it take, and did a local artist make the guest bath sink?
Thanks for sharing your pics!

Sure doesn't look like it's from a kit! Betcha you're glad it was as those rafter angles would not be fun to cut.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm glad you like it.
We love that bathroom sink. My wife bought it off ebay years ago even before we knew we had a bathroom to build. From From Mexico it was delivered to New Jersey where we kept it safe. We moved to Virginia where it stayed in storage. It survived a train ride across the US and was shipped with our stuff to Hawaii where is stayed in storage for 5 more months. I then brought the sink to Home Depot and matched all the colors in the sink. Eventually we with paint a border of tiles in the bathroom that match the pattern on the sink. I friend of mind, Scott, did all the tiling. And yes he is also an artist.
The roof panels do have some unique angles and they were hard enough to install even prebuilt. You need a good protractor regardless to assemble and frame what isn't prebuilt.

Oh I just noticed that you wanted to know how long it took.
I started clearing the trees in February and the bulldozer and septic was installed in March. The concrete was poured June and I did the acid staining in August. We moved here in September and started putting the house together and got permitted May 2nd.

Funkstopper - thanks for sharing. This is one of the better Multi-faceted homes that I've seen. Very nice!
It's great to see that you got the beautiful sink from eBay (one of my favorite sites).
I'm curious about your ozone treatment. It may come in handy for our rentals in the future. I'll contact you separately for this.

Golly Jim! I think you are my neightbor. From the view through the window in the framing pic it looks like you are the new house down the street. We are off-island owners who plan to retire to our home in a few years. We are next door to the nice retired lady, Bridgette (not sure of the spelling). The neighbor between us is named Sean. Am I right?
We have a friend who will be coming to stay in our house next week and then I'll be there with my brother in October.
I think my partner, Carol, said she met someone at your place maybe last suummer or at the New Year.
If I'm right, I'll make a point to say 'hey' next time I'm home.
How about that!?
