I may be coming into this late, but I am wondering what this limit is trying to achieve? If it is the only way to achieve something important, then perhaps we can loook (I can help) at some forum software than enforces it automatically. If the purpose is to avoid tit-for-tat he-said she-said threads, then perhaps moderating the offending threads is more fair to people who generally keep their noses clean.

By the way Damon, was that you at the rally with the cute boy? We should have been wearing nametags. I was the ha'ole with the blond kid. I'll keen an eye on your blog

Frossie -

Yes that was me and my little opihi.

I think I've found my answer to the 5 post's per day limit:

I'm only going to start new topics and will respond to threads on my own blog.... Emailing the starter of the thread off the board to let them know that I have responded to there Punaweb thread on my blog

People can feel free to comment over there... and I will be discussing other things then just Puna related stuff.[Big Grin]

3 or is that 4 for today already?

P.S. Rob let me know that paying members of FoPF can post as many times as they want in the "Members" only section of Punaweb.

hi Rob, as we all know it's your site to do as you think best. I see what you're wanting to achieve, a balance between voices, which is good. For you not to have to play hall monitor, also good!

But, and this is feedback as a poster, and in no way a "you SHOULD" -- having a five post limit severely dampens an interchange of information, and it also quashes the impulse to simply post in admiration, support, thanks, frivolity, to make a quip ... it makes me weigh every post like it has to count for something ...

What would I like to see? A limit on new topics started by any one person in the Punaweb forum. One a day or not more than two.
No post count limit in nonclassified, building and gardening.
Maybe a post limit in the Punaweb forum ... but I think it will almost suppress dialogue between posters to stay with five.

Personally, if I had a number one request of other posters, it would be to ask them to stop analyzing other posters' lifestyle, personality, quirks, etc.. based on their posts. I think it is rather rude and hurtful to play internet psychoanalyst, and I have yet to see it help restore harmony.

I belong to another site where they had a lot of interpersonal problems until they formalized guidelines that went something like -- if you disagree, disagree with my ideas and my facts, but don't tell me to shut up (free speech rule) and don't make it personal (no attacking other posters rule).

Just my two cents. [Smile]

A post starts a thread or topic.

A reply is a response to a post/topic or it can be a response to a reply.

Surely, Rob does not mean to limit replies.

That would be like limiting the number customers to a store.

In this case the Punaweb-Mart store includes products like
Meat = Ideas
Fruits = Thoughts
Vegetables = Concepts
Dairy = Questions
Canned Processed Ham = Answers

Last night people were counting replies in the post limit in the discussion. From what Rob said, it would be work for him to play post cop. Topic count is easy if you're around the site much.

oh, and I apologize to Rob for posting discussion as I just re-read the top post which I had read last night and not remembered he asked for suggestions to be emailed.

Although it looks like my post brought out that we are not all on the same page with what post count means. I expect Rob will clarify when he sees this.

AGREED[8D]

Question... if we delete a post before we post a new post does that count as a zero post?[:o)]

I've seen over 230 338 visitors to my new blog in just 24 hours... if you all don't like what I write... you don't have to stop by. [Big Grin]

4.5

*edit* wow you guys are flooring me with your support off line and in emails.

I think the software can be set easily to limit the postings to any number, so there is no need for Rob to play a cop. I personally never count my posts and still don't get to five, though I use the direct e-mail function and e-mail people regularly.
