Does anyone have any problems getting the police to respond to calls from the Kalapana to Kapoho area?
I keep getting ripped off and the police don't seem to do much.

if you're getting ripped off on a regular basis what does that tell you? How do people come to find out you have certain items lying around? Sounds like either your neighbors don't like you, or you're just a target for some reason. Sounds like you need some dogs ,pal?

my issue is that people are not calling the cops because of non response. my neighbor was broken into yesterday as well and he won't call the cops. I have heard the same issues in Seaview where people just won't/don't call.
i think we need to be diligent in calling so the cops know they need to drive Red Road once in awhile.
Getting a dog is not the right answer at this time in my life (maybe soon, but not now).

That's kind of harsh. Trying to scare somebody with something that happened all those years ago?

Red Road, I think you have the right idea - getting involved is important. At least let a report be taken when that kinda thing happens. If we sit back and allow ourselves to be victims, well...
Good luck.[

i knew about that horrible incident before i moved here years ago. i am concerned with the new pohoiki groupies when i cycle by them on my way to kalapana... so far i have had no incidents, but i have been warned that they have stopped cars and basically made people feel very uncomfortable that are simply there to watch the surfing or even driving by (police have been called on this).

listen, in a very rural area like this. It is better to be prepared yourself to handle whatever kinda issue comes up in this area. My concern is response time by local law enforcement or lack of it. You don't want the "perps" to know that you're the one calling the cops either. I believe that could really compound your problems.
Why is a dog not good at this time for you? You'd be surprised how effective a good size barking dog can be!

With an upcoming election, it is a very good time to get vocal about dissatisfaction with your police services, especially with specific issues. It is always a hot button issue at election time. All of the politicians want to be seen on the rignt side of the issue, which in turn puts heavy pressure on the police administration. A newspaper special interest story can have great effect.
