Travelling with pets between islands
#1
We are going to spend Christmas and a few days with friends on Oahu and I am wondering if I can bring my cat with me? Can I carry him on board?

Surely quarantine doesn't apply between islands?

I've flown a few times with my dog a few times. If you have a pet travel bag that fits under the seat or at your feat, it was $30 each way. I know it's more $ for a stowed kennel but not sure how much. A cat would be small enough to be at your feet though. The tricky part is going through security. You have to be able to remove the cat, let them inspect the bag and put the cat back in. They usually choose that time to bolt lol.

If the pet with the carrier weighs less than 15 pounds, you can take it as a carry-on. The pet and carrier must fit under the seat. It will in place of your carry-on but you are still allowed a personal item like a purse or backpack. We have a little 6 pound dog (I'm not sure if that even qualifies as a dog) and he's gone on at least a dozen flights back and forth from the Big Island to Oahu. With Hawaiian Airlines, they tell you to make your reservations and then call them with your confirmation code to see if there's room on the flight. They limit each plane to carry no more than three animals at a time. The irritating thing is that if the plane is full (I've never had this happen though) then you have to pay to change your reservation. I think if you were to argue with them about it you could get away with it, but I always found this to be rather idiotic. I tried reserving a spot on the flight before booking and they told me I couldn't do it. Go/Mokulele has similar rules but they seem to be a little more lax. Oh, by the way, there is no charge for the pet.

If it barks an wag the tail,it's a dog.
Otherwise it's a cat or a bunny.
