The is no Sirius or XM reception in Hawaii. If you have Dish network you do get some of the music channels but none of the other things such as Martha Stewart channel, new channels or the comedy channels. I read somewhere that Sirius had applied for some sort of something in Hawaii (didn't understand the technical jargon) about a year ago. The merger between the two has been approved by the FCC so I suspect they will expand the customer base and add areas once that is complete.
As far as the mention on making money, neither company has been making money anyway. The merger is kind of the only hope to survive. I think there would be a customer base in Hawaii. It would be a nice feature to have in rental cars.
Sirius is awesome and will be right under fresh peaches on my list of 10 things I will miss about leaving Georgia when I move.
If you are interested in Sirius you should do as I do and e-mail them about once a month about adding service to Hawaii.

Fresh peaches. Now stop it.. I haven't had a fresh tree ripened peach in over 20 years. The stuff they try to pass off as peaches here are akin to biting into a Styrofoam ball. [xx(]

The footprint of the satellites were not designed to downlink to Hawaii. It is possible to have land based transmitters, most likely in large population areas.
