Something that really bothers me!

For those who havnt tried take kids thru airport security by yourself with car seats and everything else having your kid on a tether / leash IS a responsible thing to do . There are no do overs . No matter how perfect you think you are, it only takes a millisecond . I rather my kids need therapy than be dead or missing

Thank you Sittall for your thoughtfull reply. I'm sure these parents don't use safety restraints 24/7, but only in stressfull, hectic situations such as airports.There can be, afterall, an abundance of voyeuristic individuals sitting around watching people. (eye candy?)

This approach may be unusual, but to suggest that it is abusive is ludicrous. Parents should do whatever it takes to ensure their peace of mind and the safety of their children when traveling.

John is right; MYOB and maybe read a magazine or book.

I remeber childhood. I also remeber my Mothers curse, by telling me I will have one just like me. That put an end to that, right then and their. I know I was a hellion, momma got good with those high heeled shoes she could hit you in the head around corners, they were like boomerangs.

i just don't understand the need to use a leash on a child!? Some of you have suggested that having your kid on a leash is exercising responsibility in some sort of way in a crowded place. I don't know, as a parent who has raised four kids before that are now adults, and two kids now. I have never ever been in a situation where I miss placed my kids before, or have ever been separated from them out of some strange occurrence. As a parent, I have always had a "third eye",with my regard to my kids. Never ,ever have they been temporally lost or misplaced either. Even while I was on a thirty year run on drugs, I never ever found the need for a leash on my kids with fear of losing them!! I will carry my kids in crowded areas, no problem to lift thirty pounds around for a few hours or more.

Ok, I had 7 kids so I am the expert here unless someone can beat me on that.
I am perfectly ok for a parent to have a safety leash on a child untill the age of 16, then handcuffs and shakles are called for.

But seriously, the kid will never remember it at age 2-4.....and if it saves a kid from being lost, I am alllll for it.

I'll second that, Nancy!! It only takes a second for someone to snatch them or for them to get hurt accidentally. It's more responsible as far as I can see to have a safety restraint than to allow them to run where they want to unchecked - which I see more often than not.

It's okay to love the keiki, but there comes a point when they either are unsafe or are irritating other people unnecessarily. If they are yours' they may be cute, but not so to others that have a right to enjoy being in public as well.
