Yesterday night I woke up because my dog was tossing and turning in his crate (yes, now he prefers it to his pad!).
He had fleas! (Happens very rare,but...)
Was a lot of manual labor (electric zapper from Sharper Image),since I don't use those "safe" chemicals, unless absolutely necessary.
A while ago found this (in the add from an organic food store newsletter):

"Imbued with frequencies" ??
Any thoughts?

Hey StillHope, not to convinced on that machine. But I have used eucalyptus seed pods, oils. tee tree oil. the oils work good but have to use on a reg. basis the eucalyptus seed pods can be strung and made into collars for your pets, fleas and ticks don't like them.
you can mix the oils in their shampoos and conditioners. I also use it to keep mosquitoes at bay, since we have west nile here. I also use it on my horses to keep the fly's and mosquitoes off them as well.

Thank you,lostboystoy.
So far he is wearing a nice antique silver thing - no frequencies-just for the heck of it.
Actually,I don't like that frequency thing at all.Could be interfering with brain activity.
But still curious...

Hey StillHope something else to think about because it never freezes in Hawaii except on top of the volcano. You have a lot of parasites in the soil. you can put your dog on PARAHERBS which is a combination of black walnut and cloves, papaya seed, pumpkin seed, pau D'arco bark, wormseed and butternut root bark.

hey StillHope dont underestimate the power of radio frequencies, look up dr. rife on the web, he created a radio frequency machine that kills disease and kills cancer cells, the F.D.A and pharmaceutical companies at that time, which was 1932 were hand in hand dr.rife cured cancer with his machine. remember their is no money in cures only in treatment. but in the 1980's this machine has been perfected. costs 2300 dollars but works great on inoperable tumors and cancers. My best friend that has had breast cancer 5 times got one of these machines, combined with chemo and western medicine, she incorporated herbs and radio frequency treatments, her chemo time was cut in half. she was stage 5 she should not have lived. this year their are more studies being done and it is starting to see the light of day. I believe in the next couple years more people are going to find out about this technology.
My partner is a vet tech, I practice more of a holistic medicine, but believe that a combination can bring great benefits. my biggest problem with western medicine is that it is over kill and doesn't treat the whole body but a symptom, thus not curing just treating. But using all tools available and combining I think miracles in science can happen.

I use Advantix. It works amazing well for about 3 weeks. The flea problem here is far worse than where you currently live, StillHope, if my own CA experience was similar. I severely limit where my dog can go and try to keep him from going in the brush around the neighborhood too much. He still gets fleas. I wash with neem oil shampoo and have tried an herbal collar. They do nothing. The hartz non-prescription stuff works for a few days at most. I think veterinary medicine has this one pretty well figured out. My other dogs have used other prescription products all their lives and they're fine. By letting a dog get fleas, you subject the dog to flea borne disease on top of the general misery it causes. The prescription stuff has gone through clinical trials to get approved. Alternative approaches don't and just because they aren't pharmaceuticals doesn't mean they're harmless. Anyway, my 2 cents.

I also use a systemic approach. My dogs get Sentinel on the first of the month. It prevents heartworm and keeps fleas away (here in Oceanside). I never see a flea on them. Neither of my dogs goes to the dog park. For Sentinel, you have to get them tested for heartworm before you give it to them.

Thank you,my dear neighbors (from both sides)!
I agree with you on the danger of fleas.I would never subject my furry son to any danger just because I don't like "chemicals".
But somehow he has them extremely rare and with early detection my approach works so far.
But Hawaii is the bug kingdom,so it mostly will be a different story.

Hey all...Chuy never had fleas in Arizona...but has 'em here. We tried using the Frontline stuff, but it didn't work and then I found out there was a big scandal where they were selling fake Frontline - which now makes sense.
We just started using Advantage Multi - it covers heartworm, intestinal parasites and fleas. Seems to be working great so far. They have to be over 3 pounds so Frida just yesterday got her first dose.
I've tried so many things including Avon Skin-so-soft, lavender oil, etc...nothing seemed to work and Chuy was just miserable. So, at least glad he's happier and no worms too.
I THINK I KILLED THIS THREAD...UGH.[
