Gasoline in Hilo drops 10 cents a gallon in 1 day.

All I can say is...it's about time

This is just until after the elections. After that you won't see this side of $5 again. Fill up your tank and fill up some containers while it is still "low".

Hoarding gasoline is a limited proposition. Some of the energy-producing hydrocarbons in gasoline start breaking down after about six months, and at some point it becomes useless.

Something is seriously screwy. Most of the year, prices were the same as in the Bay Area where i used to live, and they were in July when I was there during record high oil prices. My mom was just visiting from there and said gas was 0.40 less per gallon there. Looks like gas stations here are not dropping prices in order to maximize profits. Oil had dropped over 35% and gas here is only down about 10% from its peak.

Rob, Yes something is screwey, is tat a word?

Gas in Hilo is usually the same price as here in No. Cal. It was when I visited Hilo in July/August and again when I visited in Aug/Sept! Not anymore, and I don't know why.

Today $3.42 in No.Cal. It started dropping around first week in September. Could be the election price repression until after the national elections, that is what happened in 04 here. Prices way down 2 months before election then right after the election they started rising like no tomorrow, who knows it is all so contrived.

Aloha,

What about when oil prices went up 60% but gasoline prices only rose 20%, where was the outrage over oil companies NOT raising prices to match the high oil prices? Everyone is so quick to whine when prices don't come down, but act dumb when they don't rise.[V]

Oil dropped today into the upper 80's per barrel (thats almost half the price what it was just 3 months ago). Dow is headed for another huge selloff.

Time to batten down the hatches folks.
