At least some of the reason is lack of demand. Between conservation from motorists new energy efficient cars and alternatives we have reduced our demand dramatically. Now if we encourage drilling, it could drop to the 2's. However I have not noticed any drop in electric bills. Those too should go down, as should shipping and all electric reliant business's who've used the raisees we incurred to jack their prices. If oil drops they should all drop (of course not immediately), and when they don't will we be on their cases to get with it to the same extent as we do the oil co's?

Matson Mafia(heco, meco, helco & young bros. should be immediate targets for forced lowering of prices. Or dump the Jones act and get some competition going.

Another major question is, with the newly introduced planting of biomaass for energy, what price guarantee (subsidys) are these companies getting who are just starting. It seems the state is building a biodeisel refinery, but the biggest player yet is a sugar company. My question is, will the state block a cheaper foreign import in favor of the local companies, again artifically raising our prices?

If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in Delta Airlines one year ago, you will have $49.00 today. If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in AIG one year ago, you will have $33.00 today. If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in Lehman Brothers one year ago, you will have $0.00 today. But, if you had purchased $1,000 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the aluminum cans for recycling refund, you will have received $214.00.

Based on the above, the best current investment plan is to drink heavily & recycle. It is called the 401-Keg Plan.

A recent study found that the average American walks about 900 miles a year. Another study found that Americans drink, on average, 22 gallons of alcohol a year. That means that, on average, Americans get about 41 miles to the gallon! Makes you proud to be an American!
