The better thing to do is figure out who makes the best chile, let them do it, and play backgammon for the pot.

How one can play without the top of the head?

Is anyone around Puna growing some of these Naga Jolokia peppers? I haven’t had the pleasure of tasting them yet. Maybe I should say torture of tasting them. This might be a fun thing to do at a chili cook-off. Set up a booth of death and look for volunteers and video their reactions to them. Start the challenge off with a Jalapeno, step one...next Habanero, step two...finally the Naga Jolokia step three. We could have some medals with ribbons [like] I survived the chili pepper death booth challenge. Charge them a $2.00 entry fee and you can quit at any point, but no medal.

Check this out for a good laugh...........

Tom; Don't know if anyone is growing them yet there, I finally located a source for the seeds and they will be grown in Puna next year.

Guess you guys aren't familiar with "Devils Tongue"

...The Devil's Tongue is the hottest pepper thus far, even hotter than the Habanero Red Savina™ PVP, which currently holds the Guinness World Record as the hottest pepper...

Picture Here

We have these Maui Wowee purple ones and the Zimbabwe Bird Hots

But I just always called em Hawaiian Chili peppers [B)][^]

Devils tongue is a generic name for the Naga Jolokia pepper from Thialand.

I agree, recipes would be great, maybe even a "cookbooklet" that is for sale at the event. Also, a "Strictly Grown on The Big Island" category would be a terrific idea Damon. I think it would be great if the whole cook off had that rule!

Hot stuff rocks![}Smile]

I'd love to see a "Strictly Grown on Big Island Category" [Wink]

Believe it or not... I've actually had a decent vegetarian chilli.

Come to think of it, it would not be much of a "contest" if the recipes were published till after prizes were awarded. Some people might not want to share their secrets either. But there could be a way to compile the recipes after the event and with the prize money the chili chefs would have to give over rights to their recipes???
