Great Volcano Footage from Archives
#1
I heard about this link in another group and it was so good, I wanted to share it here. When I was about 6 years old, living in S. CA my grandmother's next door neighbor came to Hilo and brought back this film. I remember vividly watching it over and over on his dining room wall. This was nearly 50 years ago and I have been searching for it for many years. It means even more to me after having gone to the actual spots where the flow came through Puna. Places like the Japanese Cemetary which were half devistated... so amazing.

Yep, kind of like playing cards in bicycle spokes!

Wonder if the narrater is still alive? And who was he?

No, that's not John Cameron Swayze, whose voice was a bit more nasal and slightly higher pitched. Don't know whose voice it is, but his pronunciation isn't too bad.
