Under P & P ... - The Mystery
#1
From this forum I learned that

if the space under post & peer is a simple land

- no chemical anti-termites treatment is required.

But if you have a concrete under P&P then

the same area needs to be treated .

Unless concrete somehow attracts termites,it doesn't make any sense.

Or does it?

Any comments?

Having the concrete under the house might seem like unnecessary thing, but the house is very small and the storage space is a must.

I don't like the idea of poring poison under the house with plants around, though it is allegedly "safe".

No answers..
But recently I've read Big Island's post abut the roads and realised that this is the answer :

That's the moment I gave up even trying to understand the reasoning and excepted the facts,
"its not what you know"
its
"Who you Know!"

It is my understanding that all wood frame structures require treating the ground for termites. Post and Pier or slab. For the real facts though you should contact the Building Department (961-8331) and report back here what they tell you.

I do know that my Castleblock clients have not been required to chemically treat their ground... but we don't build with wood.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Thank you,Rob!
Somehow I was pretty sure that someone knowledgeable on the forum mentioned that fact I used in my question.
I guess I was wrong.

As far as the Castleblock materials are concerned,I deeply regret that I learned about them too late.
I still don't understand why people who build not a cabin would even consider a wood, since the price difference is not that much..

I did post on poured footings and no termite treatment was ever mentioned, nor did anyone else I know have to treat for p&p in the past few years.

Thank you,Lquade and Robguz!
That's what I was talking about.
When I posted a question about the concrete under P&P,
,I was told that the ground under that concrete needs to be treated.
Or it depends on the inspector?

Just to clarify, are you saying that you will have a full monolithic slab poured (as in building a building on a slab) but on top of the slab, wood post will be used to support the house and framing? In other words, the ground under the building will be a solid monolithic concrete slab and not just individual footings for each post.

Yes,Bob.
I don't know the exact details,but I'd like to have a concrete floor under the "lifted" P&P,not a patches.If it's called "slab",so be it[Smile]
