Under P & P ... - The Mystery
#11
This could get interesting...

Why not ask your contractor? It's his work that must pass county inspections. Might also be worth a phone call to building department and document their answer?

Having a slab under a P&P house is an unnecessary expense.

David,I've already asked the builder. That's why I decided to ask on the forum.

John,in my case it is a bare necessity, but I am not going to take this thread to the different direction - the subject is too important to me.

Have you called the building department yet?
Assume the best and ask questions.

OK, for what's it's worth, my experience. Draw your own inference, but that may or may not agree with what county requires of you.

Shed permit - P&P - no treatment
House permit - Slab - treatment - and this was using Castleblock ProTec
Container permit - on concrete blocks - no treatment
Pool pump shed - slab - no treatment - again Castleblock ProTec

Not to be surly, but it is irrelevant how many people here tell you what. The only thing that matters is what is on YOUR permit and what YOUR inspector is looking for. In this case I mean for "your" to also mean the contractor you hire.

If the slab isn't structural, perhaps an a reasonable approach would be to build a normal P&P, pass final, then get your slab work under the house. My guess would be this is the normal approach.

David,thank you so much!
Your information is very helpful.
Though the Castleblock part is confusing.

As to Castleblock: David did use our non-wood structural insulated building panels on his exterior walls but he choose wood for his primary posts and wood roof beams.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Kathy,thank you for the response.
My plans are in order. But the question was why the same spot under the same house either require chemical treatment or doesn't.
I am trying to keep this on topic.
