Best of 2008

The best thing that happened to me in 2008 was quitting my job with the state over on Oahu and becoming an unemployed bum here on the Big Island.

What's the best thing that happened to you this year?

Not sure it was the "Best", but passing final inspection on our house sure was worthy of celebrating.
In other ways, having family visitors, especially son and granddaughter are at the top.

I think the best ting that happened to me was the trip to Thailand. I was able to get my teeth done, get a much needed community project accomplished (with Punaweb help, we built a house in Thailand for a poor family) AND the Husband and I had not only a wonderful trip to a little island in the south of the country, but it renewed our relationship as nothing has before. After 35 years of marriage, that is a big accomplishment! Yaaa Hoooo

The best thing that happened to me in 08 was graduating from college with my Masters degree. Yay! The other "top" thing was getting ready to move to the Big Island...11 more days to go!

The best thing to happen to me is changing to a different school where I get to work with the most astounding and wonderful group of people, including a really great person who is my immediate boss. The kids are like all high school kids, works in progress, but I really enjoy 99% of them and at this school I at least have the resources and support to be able to challenge them to do more than they ever thought they could do! It is so great to see a kid figure out that they have something going on between their ears.

For me it was completing the genealogical and oral history research on the pioneer Texas women of my family, a job I inherited from a dear aunt who passed away a couple of years ago. I had the help of a cousin in Albuquerque, and we will be writing the actual history in 2009, to be privately published. Every time I found a new piece of information, I could feel Aunt Joyce's presence and blessing.

Cheers,

For me it was my job at Child Welfare in Hilo. The people I work with are outstanding.

There was also the adoption of our new little chihuahua girl, "Frida" who will eventually have Chuy's puppies. (They're stressed out at the moment with the fireworks outside.)

My Mom bounced back very well from her heart attack a year ago November and is doing great.

We enjoy the friendships we have made with many of the Punaweb family!

For us, a new President and hope for eventual cleanup of the mess in our country is up near the top of our list.

Happy New Year Everyone.[Smile]
