When ordering online or reserving rental cars I always google discount code or coupon for that product before purchasing or reserve. There is usually something.

Recently I reserved a car for Kauai with a discount code Hipromo of $179.00 a week for mid size SUV and a $40 coupon. The taxes where 39.85. So out the door $179.84. Thanks Alamo. Both the code and coupon where available on the Alamo site. Just gotta be willing to look.

Buy your petfood in bulk at Petco in Kona and save big (it even justifies the $20.00 IN GAS IF YOU COMBINE IT WITH A TRIP TO COSTCO)! The prices they charge in the Hilo grocery stores for petfood is obscene. You can find the same thing over there for less than half the price (even when it's not on sale).And they "stock" just about every brand.

Part of the reason their prices are so low is because they are competing with K-mart and Costco (stores we don't have on this side)
