*cough* [Wink]

I got married at the Hilo Hawaiian. Our reception was the all you can eat buffet....Were still married.

Don't listen to Rabi on this one...

Nothing better then being able to sit across your loved one and just "Pig Out".

I had so many butterflies in my stomach at my wedding... I couldn't even eat [V]

That's why you liked the buffet! [Smile] My wife would kill me if I took her to a buffet on Valentine's Day!

Miyos is very good Japanese food, more like Japanese home cooking than restaurant food. The view is nice if you have a window table, there is always a solo electric guitar player who is fine, and you can bring your own sake or beer. The entry is up a long flight of stairs but worth the climb. The floors aren't the cleanest but you can see into the kitchen and it is clean. They get full but you can make reservations.

Sombat's is awesome! Yum.

I like the ambiance in Hilo Bay Cafe, though for Valentine's Day. It's more upscale and kinda intimate. Food is excellent.

I would go to Sombat's or Kaleo's. Sombat is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. She uses fresh herbs grown here and I have always had wonderful food there. Kaleo's is consistently excellent, the waiters are attentive, and the atmosphere is relaxing.

We had guests who reserved a table at Paolo's for Valentine's Day the year before last. They showed up on time, waited standing up for an hour, and finally some other diners at a table for two let them join their table.

I was at Paolo's a few months ago and we were seated by the dirty window. The food was mediocre and the tablecloth had a number of stains as well as holes in it!

No matter where you go I would try to be there when they open as they will get very crowded.

Wait a minute -- there is a French restaurant on the island?

Only one french restaurant on the island...

La Bourgogne

It only has 10 tables...so reservations are required right about now!

Make a deal with your honey. Celebrate Valentine's day a day early. Service and food are at their all time worst on V Day. Only day that is worse is Mother's Day. Of course you can still give her the jewelry on the real day, most women I know would rather have that than a MEAL anyway! [8D]

And for what it's worth, Damon is right about the buffet being one of the better meals in town. But I don't know if I would do it on V Day. At least you would get good service... YOU'RE SERVING YOURSELF!
