East Hawaii... Where to go after 10:00 pm?
#1
I'm just curious what there really is to do here in East Hawaii for those evening folks that don't like the "Bar" Scene. Oh wait... there really isn't much of a bar scene either.

So where do people go at nights?

Andrew beat me to it!

In Hilo there's a lovely scene of car ("rice rocket" models) and motorcycle racing up and down the main drags and the hills. Goes til 3 am ...

Mote seriously, people go to the movies ... the movies are always busy.
And they have evening shows at Imiloa.

Party at each others house.

Gotta be creative to save money. If you live in Honolulu, almost all of the night time activities require money. Over here, you go to friends house and play cards, rent a Blockbuster movie (wait, thats spending money), cruise around in your car (wait, that wastes gas), play video games at friends house.

When I go to the store there is a place over by the deli to sit and hang out. I always see a group of older men meeting there and drinking coffee talking about whatever old men talk about. I always thought that i would like to have a place for gathering of locals, kinda like a pub w/o the spirits.
maybe a place something like a fishing/ farmers/ coffee drinkers/ active community folks to hang out and talk of the community happenings.
offer free entertainment and something like thursday night open mic....
someday....

We went to Ken's when we woke up really early one night and could not go back to sleep. It was fun to be there when it was empty. I think it was about 3:00 am.

But really, we pretty much stay home, watch something on TV and go to bed early. I am usually up well before sunrise. My husband needs more sleep and sleeps later.

Another side note... when we were here at the house after the closing, we had no Cable and thought, Oh, that's OK, we will just go to the sports bar when we want to see something like the election returns etc. So we went to Cronies for the election and then on the sunday after we went to see a game and it was CLOSED! How can a sports bar be closed on a SUNDAY. We went to the Couqui Bar and it was open... barely. Won't be visiting there again. We were so in the mood for Cronies' great chicken wings! Still blows my mind... a sports bar that is closed on Sundays.

How about that new members only club in Pahoa?

The one with the cozy upstairs lounge/reading/discussion room where they have soft live entertainment on weekends and outdoor patio chill out/snack bar area?

Oh, wait...
