Roundabouts
#21
Ok, maybe I am missing something here...

Are you talking about building Roundabouts on 130 or 11? or are you talking about building them on side streets like Damon's video shows?

I still do not see how things will be better with a roundabout on a highway... people are not going to go from 55mph to 15mph as they enter, some are just going to go and hope for the best.

Does Honolulu have Red Light Cameras? If so, were these new intersections equipped with them before the construction.
Red Light Cameras have caused cities to shorten the Yellow light to raise more money on the tickets... this has also caused more collisions.

Considering that I have more say on whether we end up with round-a-bouts or not then anyone else on this message board... leading people to my blog where I have literally at least a 100 or so posts relating to issues of the Highway 130 project so that people can leave me comments directly instead of some youtube site I may never view again seems mighty appropriate.

Since I'm limited to 5 posts average per day here... I can talk all I want and listen to as much feedback and correspond with those that do care about whether we have roundabouts in a discussion format without getting cutoff on my blog ... seems just as fair.

If you'd like to discuss this further... you can do so with me over there.

If you'd like to come to one of the next H-130 meetings in person... you might find that information there as well... since I need to be use my posts here very sparingly and only a certain amount of times per day.

But hey... if you want to leave comments at that youtube site... go right ahead.... I'm not sure any of us actually working on the Highway projects would read it... but you are welcome to leave your comments there. [Wink]

And P.S. the tiny URL will come even more often now as I use twitter [B)][}Smile][8D][Big Grin]

Damon, all fine and well, but still the question:
Why hide the link behind a tinyurl?

Who is hiding anything?

Have you ever used twitter? I'm only allowed 146 characters per twit there. If I want to post a twit there announcing my blog... then I use a Tiny URL because sometimes the URL alone can be OVER 146 characters if I have a long title.

Plus if that blog title is a long title and i put it in a post like this... it expands everyone's view of the damn post and thread.

It's basically a polite way of not spewing HTML coding all over the place like this:

http://www.whatinghewaowerthequickbrownf...ESTION.com

I hope you read the end of that Paul.

If I have a long blog title...using a tiny url makes it easier on everyone.

Now that I've wasted post #2 on this trying to explain something...

Why don't you make a difference and comment on some of the 91 blogs that I have posted here and maybe have only mentioned 10-20 % of those EVER on Punaweb.

You tell me... what looks better this link:

http://damontucker.wordpress.com/2009/01...passenger/

or this link:

http://tinyurl.com/d73htj

It doesn't matter to me which one someone clicks... I Don't GET PAID BY HOW MANY PEOPLE COME TO MY BLOG!

If you want to SEE THE ONLY VIDEO IN THE STATE of Hawaii Department of Transportation Deputy Director Jiro Sumada speaking about the death of the Bus Passenger on H-130... well then you can click on either of those links. What's important to me... is that information is being spread and shared... and that government knows that they can't get away with much now a days w/out having someone watching them.

Thanks for the explanation.

I have a suggestion: use the here format as you did in the above post. Then the link is even shorter, and everybody can know (by hovering with the mouse) exactly where it's going.

you know. with a little effort, I can make a link that looks like it goes one place but will take you straight to some porn site... if you don't trust Damon's posts here, don't follow his links.

Also, is there some rule that says you are not allowed to post links to other sites? Or do you just not like Damon so much that you don't want people to go to his site for any reason... even if its one you agree with?

Best as I can tell he it trying to help Puna in ways that most of you just talk about, how about you just say thank you and be on you way...
By the way, Damon, I don't agree with most of the highway 130 things you do... but "Thank You" anyway, at least you are in the fight.

There is a hole in the bucket Dear Liza Dear Liza... I'm never gonna please any of you folks...

I HAVE A SUGGESTION: Quit thinking of the person delivering the message and start thinking about the message and your life will be much less stressful. [Wink]

P.S. Thanks for the suggestion.[}Smile]

I sincerely appreciate what Damon is doing to try to fix Highway 130.

Sure people can post links here, but he's the only one willfully disguising
links to his own blog. Some people may not want to read his blog, shocking
but true.

What have I stated publicly or to you that you disagree with?

My dreams of having the power lines get buried... got buried at the recent meeting.

What else have I stated an opinion on that you disagree with? I've only presented information that I have received and made a few comments...

But I am curious what in particular you might disagree about with either a statement I made about roundabouts or the H130 project in general.

Remember... that just because I posted a clip of a roundabout explanation on my blog... does not necessarily mean I am for them or against them.[Wink]

If you care do discuss this further... you know where to find me.
