I know someone in Puna who has 5 Mbps standard Road Runner service. He recently did some speed tests which showed a significant increase in speeds (to 7-10Mbps). I’m still waiting for someone else I know with Road Runner to corroborate this.As that person I know in Puna used to have Road Runner Turbo service (8Mbps). He had gotten downgraded to standard Road Runner service a few months ago when he did a an unrelated change to his account (Oceanic had suspended offering Road Runner Turbo to the neighbor islands due to lack of bandwidth).

Are you subscribed to standard Road Runner service (5Mbps), Road Runner Turbo (8Mbps) or Road Runner Plus (15Mbps) ?

I figured out why the speeds are so high.Road Runner is using power boost which skews your speed test results.

Those who are interested can test their own speeds at:
Oceanic's RR own test is at
http://speedtest.oceanic.com/
A generic test is at
http://speedtest.net/
I am on RR (in Volcano area) and testing this morning on both shows similar results. 26440 kb/s download and 668 kb/s upload, which is surely nothing to complain about.
Damon - I thought slow speeds were a result of our homes net, ran through router with 4 different boxes, both Mac and PC, hardwired and wifi, and we were experiencing slower speeds that I attributed to the set up. But recently I swapped out the cable modem and speeds jumped bigtime. If you have probs swap the modem methinks!

I just tested ours (we use RR in Hilo) and I got 3049 kbps downloading(381.1 KB/sec transfer rate)and 826 kbps uploading. I think we subscribed to the RR Turbo. Why is there such a difference between the two?
Thanks for the link Da Kine.
We have two laptops going here, both wi-fi running both at the same speeds. I wonder if I plugged in my computer if it would increase the speed.
