Blog/Bloggers - Necessary?

Aaron,

You are losing ground with this unending defensiveness. Lighten up.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Rob, I'm sorry. However at this point I'd rather let "Rome burn." Bob
Orts, and to a certain extent Greg were out of line with their comments.

Its very easy to be armchair quarterback. Thus neither of these folks have a clue how much time and energy I put into my blog.

Aaron...

Take a chill pill.

We know the work we put into maintaining a blog.

Rob knows the work maintaining civility on a web forum.

Bob knows Law.

Greg knows a lot... but still choose to try to kick me in the shin.

Let it slide... Think of your pending April Fools Blog that every Blogger must articulate well and plan out well in advance. [8D]

In two recent ESPN (Extra Sensor Perception Network) radio interviews from the Big Island the topic of discussion was which of several star "ARMCHAIR QUARTERBACKS" from DPW (Demented Puna Webbers) college would be taken number ONE in the upcoming draft? Read more here, here and here!

Sorry - couldn't resist - my bad!

Damon, in this case I can't lighten up or chill. Bob and Greg did step over the line with their comments about me and my blog. They have no clue that I bust my ass working graveyard shift full time. I only do my blogging on my free time, which there isn't much of.

In other words I won't, sit idly by and let Rome burn.

Whoa, Gang!

It is starting to sound like we need to have a couple of birthdays - right now - all in a row - and GTFU.

The impersonal nature of a blog allows folks to write more honestly, true. But... It also removes the filter of personal courtesy that actually talking to another human involves. In other words, if you are bitter, having a bad day, or whatever, it is perfectly okay (in some people's opinion) to flame the crap out of people on the internet.

My favorite is the "How can you say..." or "I can't believe you said.." which are samples of very confrontational statements that the writers, in all probability, would NEVER use face to face.

Thus - the internet allows people to write checks with their mouth (or fingers) that their @$$ could never cash in person. Go figure.

It is also very easy to hear the wrong tone or intent and a reader will often read or hear things that just may not be there. A simple statement can be taken as a personal jab.

Over the past five years I have regularly watched people's statements be misconstrued and feelings get hurt. Then it accelerates. Just as often humor is misinterpreted. Humor can be a hard read sometimes. There is no twinkle in the eye with the delivery on the internet.

I always recommend to assume the best and ask questions.

Aloha Ka Kou,
It is nice of the Punaweb forum to allow Aaron Stene the freedom of speech here. Unfortunately he is not so generous with letting people reply to his attacks. I am not sure what the best way to respond to someone who claims you ignore their requests for clarifications and then refuses to post you answers!

I suggest people just don't respond to him or go to his blog. I suspect much of his opinions are designed to provoke for the purpose of blog ratings. I don't think we can credit deep insight here. He has flatly refused to allow criticism on his blog that he doesn't like.

So do we really care! and now back to real thoughtful discourse please.
