IBEW union employees working for HECO, including HELCO, have given 48hr notice today after negotiations have broken down.

Bargaining issues listed were increased retirement age & two tiered wage structure
ETAII: HECO employees have already conceded electric benefit during negotiations.
Are you prepared for an electric workers strike this weekend? It could happen if bargaining does not resume.

IMO: Earnings? more than private sector, anyway, hope both
come to some terms respectfully.

I know that HE's CEO made over $2,839,000.00 in compensation in 2009, but, not sure what the workers that actually do the day in and day out, hard and dangerous work make, actually make.

and our Helco rate just increased Jan 14, 2011 to approx 37 cents per KWH.
Good to know HECO can cover the CEO's almost 3 million dollar compensation.

If there are roving brown outs, things like ATM's & cash registers get finicky... so even if you have a backup at home.... what bout your weekend plans?

mudding and taping drywall requires no electricity and if we work hard at it, we may need to sleep by the time dusk comes! [
