Good people leaving Punaweb

From what I heard about this site before it was a hang out place for those kicked out of PW.I don't think it's the case anymore.

As my grandmother used to say "That's why there is both chocolate and vanilla."

Choice is good, it gives people a chance to find a place where they are comfortable without trying to make punaweb into something it is not. I don't think it is an either/or sort of thing, in the past there have been several people who participated in both sites, even if punaonline was started by people who were dissatisfied with Rob's style of moderating.

First of all, let me ask a question - was your point to single my intro out, if that was your intention? Stirring the pot is what I read. But I could be very incorrect. I would like in general for Rob to block the cross link between PW - Punaonline - Tom's blog. I think it would be healthier for all the groups.

Devany is a member yet you didnt single her out. One of the Pam's is too.

Since you were lurking on Puna Online, and then linked to my re-intro i guess the part was missed where I said I had joined long ago and now couldn't remember my anonymous cyber themed ID. I lurked for a long time but then they added the RSS feeds.

I play here for one type of Puna experience and other places for others like the professional builders forum. Do you want a link to that too? I think I am a complex person, and like a range of experience - I think most people are like that. Heck you should see my facebook. My cousins think I am still the dizzy little cousin even at 52 from the silly stuff (pictures and links) we post there! You know I even attempt to tweet although Cindy, and John Dirgo are much better at it! Here is my feeble attempt - http://twitter.com/#!/KapohoCat - I could use some followers!

As I understand, Puna Web does not require exclusive membership.

Note: Since I was typing as Carol posted, Green tea ice cream and chocolate ice cream is an awesome combo too! I think Hilo Homemade will let you order a 1/2 scoop each!

Like any community people come, people go, people go back and forth, people leave and are never heard from again.
Not a concern that I can see. It is not a competition.

As I have said many times... communication is not about winning. A lot of the problems occur because someone thinks that they have to win in some manner.

if that is true, then I would like to suggest that you reformat the link to http://punaonline.com/smf/index.php?action=mlist

That is the entire 26 members.

I also just found out there is an entire PunaWeb forum only to be accessed if you pay $100. Is this true?

Not true. No such thing. Punaweb is entirely free and does not sell advertising. Where did you hear such a silly thing?

An exiled member. Which is why I asked if it was true.

The $100 mentioned is an ongoing spat, joke, that the poster has with

I joined punaonline over a year+ ago, they have some interesting posts, but my old iMac (which I am still very comfortable with) does not have the capability for me to respond to topics [Sad!]

There are many excellent blogs and talented writers who write about the Big Island, and now I find I have access to more news and information, that is not in our local newspaper.

This should not be a competition between different sites, each has it's own format, some good, some bad, it is up to the individual to make that choice[Smile]

Exactly, not a competition. When Punaweb started in 2003 there was basically nothing online for Puna or East Hawaii. The expansion of resources is a good thing in my opinion. Punaweb is a bit unique in that it is not operated to generate a profit. How many hits we get daily or weekly is of no concern. Punaweb also intends to remain focused on Puna and Hawaii and we expect to maintain a reasonable level of civility amongst adults.

In my opinion Punaweb is one of the least moderated sites. All others, to the best of my knowledge (I might be wrong), review and approve all postings before they appear. Punaweb members are preapproved to post and can do so immediately. Our members are also allowed to edit their posts or remove their posts at their convenience. We have also developed a rather massive searchable archive.

All we ask is to keep the subjects Puna/Hawaii related and to be civil. If you lay awake at night thinking of ways to irritate people please take it somewhere else.
