The reason I say that, is because every gay guy and or gal has tried to be straight. But very few straight people have tried to be gay. So I would have to say their is no choose In what makes us who we are.
This is why it outrages me when people try to say it is a lifestyle choice. A lifestyle choice is whether you are going to live in the city or country that is a lifestyle choice. Not ones sexuality.

It is a HARD word and an even HARDER definition - especially when applied to this post - to BOTH sides of the debate.

This is such a "CHARGED" subject - I FEEL it easy to lose one's self in the heat of the debate - the "sorrow" of the debate - the "law" of the debate - the "morals" of the debate - the "genetics" of the debate AND hard to remember the "people", the "human beings" entrenched IN the debate.

When LAWS force relationships to exist or to not exist - those relationships suffer. I have known couples who have DIVORCED just because of tax/social security LAWS.

It is easy to get stuck between many aspects of this issue - what I know, how I was "brought up", the church - BUT I always get to the BOTTOMLINE - the LOVE of the people involved - NOT the SEX!

PaulW , yes, without their offspring you would not be here... thus they are special. I don't think I have said anyone should have special treatment. The USA is one county (if not the only one) on earth were the individual is the focus and not a group... but that could change in the next 4 to 8 years.

lostboystoy, Yes I chose to live straight.. I could chose to live as a gay man, but I would not like it so I chose to live they way I do. As far as I know I was born straight, but men do many things that they were not born to do. I have no issue with your preference in these things, none of my business. But the psychology of the choices that people make can and should be discussed.

Bob.... Marriage as the government sees it is not a "RIGHT" at all, if it were there would not be rules as to who can marry who. Marriage as the church see it is also not a right... more rules... The picking of a mate is not even a "RIGHT"... more rules... what if your choice of a mate does not want you? Is it still your "RIGHT" to take them?
"RIGHTS" are for individuals not couples or groups... at least "RIGHTS" in the USA are defined that way.
Government may allow you to marry, but they may also tell you "no you can't ".

Well... Technically no one gets special treatments as far as getting married... You are allowed to marry someone of the oppose sex just like everyone else.

Okay... I don't know why I bother...

I can chose what clothes to put on today.
I cannot chose to be taller or shorter today.

I can chose where I go today.
I cannot chose whether or not my body will become infected with the swine flu while I am there.

I can chose what car I want to drive.
I cannot chose whether or not I get hit by a truck in that car today and die.

I can chose to lie and pretend to be straight and live a sad miserable life or...
I can simply go with how I was born and just be a happy gay guy.

I have had SO many straight guy friends tell me how they WISH they were gay because we get laid so much more. But it was not in the cards for them. I have been in love with a straight boy or two in my life and no matter how much I wished they could be gay they were straight boys and were not going to change. It is how it is guys. I know those who agree will agree and the rest... well... yeah. So commence your silly arguments.

So what if there was a law saying only Protestants can get married?
Technically no one gets special treatment as far as getting married is concerned - you are allowed to marry someone of the Protestant faith just like anyone else.

You would support such a law?
