Today's headline

Today's headlines read Cops Bust Alleged Crime Rings. 21 people were arrested and a ton of booty was found, most of it high end tools and construction materials. Lots of Meth too. Almost all of them lived in Puna, one or two in Hilo.

I hope if any of you have had things stolen you check with the PD to see if your stuff is there. They said they were having a hard time matching up the owners to most of the items.

Score one big one for the cops.

Devany,

There were a bunch of cops at a house down my street yesterday on my way home from work. I wonder if these two incidences are related?

These arrests were a follow up to the orchidland bust that was discussed on punaweb a few weeks ago. Indeed the police did an investigation - leading to 31 arrests at last count.

A drug for stolen items (fencing) ring is what it smelled like initially - and confirmed by the investigation.

Orchidland was the location of the fence and HPP seemed to be the focal point for many the thefts.

It is great that they caught these guys! 31 less thugs on the street.

Dave, that had to be exciting to have so much action right down the street!

I had some tools stolen from paradise park some time ago. I called the police this evening and the officer said if I call the detective assigned to my case on monday, I could come in and try to identify my tools. I still have the empty boxes they were sold in so maybe I will get lucky!

I will let puna web know how it goes monday.

No problem Lack. I kept the contact info. Name is Detective Rodriquez. His number at the station is 961 2382. Evidently he only works during the week. I will be calling him Monday. Good luck with your tools.

Did you have any luck getting your stolen items back? I talked to the detective on Monday and he said nothing matching the description of my items was found. At least the detective was good about returning my call the same day. I hope you have better luck. It was almost a year since my theft, so I did not get my hopes up.
