Best lava boat experience?

If you had friends or relatives coming to the island that wanted to see the lava, which boat would you suggest they go on?

There is no lava running into the ocean at this time, it is all contained within Pu'u O'o crater, so none of the boat trips would be lava boat trips right now.

as the volcano does change, and big changes can happen "overnight"

But there is good news/bad news with the current status; good news, The Halema`uma`u overlook has a very good night glow, and it is an easy drive up to the parking lot at HVO/Jagger in the National Park. Bad news - a Helicopter is the only way to see lava right now (but that can change....anytime... but things do seem kinda stable with ever so slight increase of some indicators on the east rift... )

When it is flowing, we have done Lava Ocean Adventures. A friend works for them so I'm somewhat biased but it was pretty amazing. The boat ride was pretty smooth although for anyone that gets at all seasick be aware that the water can be surprising rough just the short distance offshore that they go.

On previous visits, we walked to the ocean entry in the middle of the night. Is the current surface lava only in the caldera, or is it flowing only in VNP, or is it outside the Park but miles from any road access?

Right now it is only flowing in Pu'u O'o crater, but the floor of the crater is rising steadily and could start overflowing, creating surface flows, soon. Or it could do something entirely different. The only other active lava is within Halema'uma'u up at Kilauea crater in the park.
