Wow...I went to that link and was excited to listen, but I cannot get any sound at all. Yes, my speakers are turned up. Am I just stupid? Do I have to join something? [?]

There are long silent pauses during the off hours, lots of chatter as the day progresses.

As an old police dispatcher (Reno early ‘70s), I’ve always carried a scanner with me from place to place and enjoy listening to the local traffic. I’ve been listening here for the past 5 years. I was thrilled to see this link but disappointed after listening for a few hours. My scanner is always busy with Puna traffic: Burglaries, traffic accidents, domestic disturbances, affrays, reckless drivers, thefts, BOLOs, check welfares, suspicious cars/people, barking/loose/vicious dogs, lots of gunshots, plus constant fire and ambulance dispatches as well as the Coast Guard - maybe 1% of that is on this link. Most of what little does come through seems to be Kona side medical. Too bad, it would’ve been nice to punch it up on my laptop and keep up my listening habit in other parts of the house or out on the lanai. My suggestion to anyone who is interested in keeping up with the goings on in their neighborhood is go to Radio Shack and get a small programmable scanner. They’ll supply you with a list of frequencies and then you can hear what’s really going on the east side - there’s never a dull moment.
use it up, wear it out, make it do, do without
I don't know how I got over the hill without getting to the top.

I love my police scanner and listen to it all the time in the car and sometimes at home....especially when the helicopters are circling low overhead. Recently I lost the frequency for the Keaau (Pahoa) Police Dept. dispatch. It somehow got wiped out of my pre-programmed channels. Can anyone send that along so I can program it back into my radio? I tried Radio Shack, but it seems they no longer give out the printed paper with all of the frequencies. They just refer you to a website and I cannot find what I am looking for.
Mahalo in advance if anyone is able to help!! |
