"Set" propane tank

Has anyone here recently had a large (out in the yard) propane tank installed by the gas co.? What did it cost? Do you own it or lease? What does it cost to fill? Does it require a permit? I had this in HA many years ago and it was so nice not to run out of gas in the middle of cooking dinner or taking a shower.

Is your house finaled or are you in the building process?

If Finaled, call the gas company and they can give you the requirements for plumbing the gas lines, current charges and rental options, which size tank and current cost to fill.

Thanks for the link. The house is 25 years old, but was built in two separate sections with the WH and dryer on 1 bottle, the range on another one 35' away.

Call a lic plumbing contractor and have him pull a plumb permit and plumb the lines to the one large tank would be my suggestion. (I believe it is $4 per fixture for the permit fee.)

when we bought our house last year, the tank was already here. it's leased for around $7.29/month from the gas company. we've only filled it once since being here, but i don't recall the amount.

Why you need a tank ?

The reason I am asking that I have to decide myself on it .
But my understanding that there's no savings (no matter what size,it's still about $4 a gallon),just a convenience.

I have a small lot.So a "bottle" (which I was told is about 5 feet tall)
will do?

I have a 250 gallon tank at "the other place" They come once a year... just got my annual 500$ propane bill. Not bad for heating, lighting and refrigeration (Latitude 30)

certainly convenient and I do get better deals for 100 minimum gallons delivered than I can get in loose 5's

Our 250 supplies kitchen stove, dryer, 3 on demand HW heaters, 4 fireplaces, and grill - that could be a lot of bottles. Maybe no $$ savings on the 250 gallon tank, but I do enjoy not slumping those bottles back and forth. Much more pleasant to meet the driver and talk story. Might be entertaining through to watch Stillhope wrestle her full "5 footer"(46.3"H X 15.1"W) - weighs about 170 pounds when full

I have a 5' footer used for an above ground pool heater and it's a monster to haul around. StillHope, I hope you've been working out lately! As David suggested it might be mo betta to talk story while your big tank is getting filled!

How big is 250 gallons ?

You guys have big lots.Mine is tiny.
And I bet 250 is the ugly looking pig[].


BTW,I was told the Gas Company is going to do the exercise.
