Best cell phone company to use in lower HPP?

Don't know how this applies to HPP but T-Mobile will be putting in a new tower at the Nanawale Longhouse soon. They wanted to put it in the lowest reaches of our subdivision but thankfully, our board stuck together and they're going to put it on the higher elevation by Nanawale Blvd. So hopefully this will provide some of you with better coverage, too.

Aloha everyone, I'm new to the Forum, but have been enjoying reading it for several months. Re: cell service in Puna, I got the prepay GoPhone plan from ATT. We live part time in Oregon, & have no cell service where we live, so I wanted to at least get something that would work in Puna, where we also live part time. My pre-pay plan costs me $25. for 90 days, or $.10/min, whichever comes first. You must renew it before the 90 days are up, and if you have any minutes left, they will roll-over when you renew. It seems to work as well as anything else, & I'm happy with it.

have the go phone now... for keeping my last cell number active... go has the better deals , verizon having the coverage hands down both here and other places, in my experience

I've also used pay-as-you-go, but with T-Mobile since before moving here. I chose the option $100 for 1,000 min, for one year duration. The unused minutes will be rollovered if you renew at the end. So, it costs about $9 a month. And they always give another 150 min as a bonus.

Thanks for the help, folks. One more question, though. Do the pay-as-you-go plans have roaming charges? It would be nice to use the phone while traveling without eating up all the money.

Net10 had no roaming charges inside the US. It is 10 cents a minute anywhere the phone works, you pay extra out of country according to the website. We are still pretty happy after three years.

Same with T-Mobile, no roaming charge within the US. In fact, I still use the own number from the mainland.
