I just heard from Ken Love that some thieves cut down 1/2 of a giant longan tree at UH night before last to steal over 1,000 # of fruit!
Do not buy longan unless you know the farmer for the next week or so. Actually that is always a good idea.

That is just terrible - and so short-sighted. We hear of this kind of thing now & then, and it just makes me sick. Where do they think they'll get fruit from next year?
Of course, the kind of person who'd cut down a tree to steal fruit isn't exactly the thinking type. >:-(

That is for sure Liz! It was a very old, mature tree, loaded with fruit. I suspect we will see a lot of it at the farmer's markets this weekend.

I'm shocked, and I don't shock that easily. That's so sad. Thank you Devany for spreading the word.

How does somebody cut down half of a large tree on the UHH campus (even at night) without being noticed? The college administration might want to look at their security arrangements.
Jerry, that was the part that shocked me! [:0]

Some people are really disgusting. I wonder what would happen to them if they were caught.

That's awful! I wonder if the perpetrators are genuinely desperate and needy or just lazy scum?

Blakeyboy1, perhaps they're genuinely desperate, needy, lazy scum who can't get by on welfare and have no appreciation for beauty, nature, and anything other than wanton destruction.
