Sounds like a true weather event. I've got leaves everywhere too. It sounds no big deal, to have leaves everywhere, but I've lived in this house over two years and never had leaves all over my deck. The trees are far enough way that the leaves don't get that far. Funny that last night produced more wind damage than the so-called hurricanes, for which I prepared and stocked up. I'm amazed our power didn't go out.

Sorry to hear about people's stuff that was damaged.
Glad Renee made it home safe!

Just went around HPP on some Neighborhood Watch errands and saw several downed trees and LOTS of branches on the ground. Fortunately the power lines in the areas that I visited were not down. I saw several of those "tent carports" either blown over or totally torn up. When I got home, I discovered that two dead (or nearly dead) ohia trees had toppled back behind the house. Quite a night and the rain just goes on and on.

Our power went off several times last night, and flickered a bit this morning too. Just the top of a dead ohia in the yard came down in the wind, but we're pretty protected here for wind. Tarps & chickens are a-ok. :-)

Enjoying this lull, but I think more is on the way...

As I was JUST about to do the dreaded BILLS - PHOOF - the power went out!

Walked outside and there was a HELCO truck - now that's quick service!

The neighbors where out and I found out one of them had called the Fire Department and HELCO - a tree limb had fallen in the win; landed across the the line and caught fire! A BIG POP then Smoke and Flames! The power line separated just after arrived HELCO arrived.

I know there is a REASONABLE explanation but the HELCO truck was here at least 10 minutes BEFORE the Fire Department??????

Within an hour and a half - we had our power back!

I went back out after lunch and saw what had to be the laugh of the day, for me at least. On 19th in HPP, a pair of mallard ducks happily waddled up to a big puddle in the road, expecting to have a nice swim. The male jumped in only to find that the water didn't even reach his duckie knees. (Do ducks even have knees?) Anyway, the mallard had a Donald Duck moment and shook his head and seemed to quack angrily at not getting his swim. He and the female were last seen waddling down 19th toward an even larger puddle. I hope they got their swim. It was their sort of day after all.

Cheers,
Jerry

Dumping rain ... Then twap, pa pap pap pap .... steady for 10 minutes on top of the rain ... Hail ?

Too snuggled in to get up and stick my arm out.

Nice pics of bayfront.

Ducks comfortable in deep-for-ducks puddles.

I have never seen or heard rain like this. It has been pounding us here in Kapoho since I awoke at 6am. It has not let up for a second. When I look at the weather radarsereen...it is bright red (and specs of purple)...intense. And, it looks like there is no end in sight. Anyone else???

I just got back from the HPP Swamp Meet . . . er, excuse me, Swap Meet. It poured the whole time, but we had a record number of vendors. I guess people wanted to sell their stuff indoors. Unfortunately, not a big number of buyers were willing to come out on a day like this. I did somehow sell out of bok choi and kabocha squash, though, so I had an OK day.
