Stayed at Island Paradise Inn last week. The place is great! Well worth the price, which has to be about the lowest on the island. Safe, nice people, well appointed and stocked with everything you need, spotlessly clean. We loved Pahoa too! What a cool little town, and so much to see on that corner of the island.
Only downside is it is not the quietest place in the world--Coquis (which don't really bother me), kids and motorcyclists doing burn-outs from the 7-11 parking lot on weekend nights, yowling cats (one night only). It's kind of a little complex of places, and you all share the same driveway, so you get to hear everybody coming and going and chatting outside.
All in all, I would highly recommend it if you want to save money.
