dumped dog=rescued dog=adopted dog
#11
I've met the little dog who is the topic of this thread. She is the sweetest little thing.

It makes me so sad that someone abused her to such extent, but she is not a lost cause by any means. I think she's going to need a lot of tender loving care - which she certainly is getting at present.

We are not in a position to adopt her, but someone out there will be the right one, and whoever you are, you will be blessed with a loving & loyal pet.

no. she has not been adopted yet. there is a punawebber who may interested. we should know by the end of this week.

i should have titled this thread, "rescued dog" not, "dumped dog". sounds much better.

Moderator: Using the edit icon you, as the originator of the topic, can also edit the title.

thanks rob, i had forgotten that i could do that.

We don't know that the dog belonged to the person with the truck. He may have been rescuing her from durance vile and as "not the owner" he wouldn't have been able to put her into a no-kill shelter or the humane society since they generally want to know who is dropping off the dog. Also, if she was being malnourished where she was he may not have wanted her put where the former owners could find her again. I'm not saying this is the case, but I'm saying we don't know. Hope for the best, there is enough fear and furor in the world already.

what? you can't drop off a stray dog at either the humane society or a no-kill shelter? never heard of that. what's the big deal in giving your name as the person dropping the animal off? it would be the same thing as saying one FOUND the dog.

so if she, "was being malnourished where she was he may not have wanted her put where the former owners could find her again....", what would make him think that she could/would have survived in the forest? and, why would she try to chase the truck down? imo, i don't think he was rescuing her. sorry, cat. it was just too suspicious.

Kani,

I have some dog food that I could donate if that would help. I am in the neighborhood.

dan, mucho mahalo. we have enough dog food for now. looks like she will have a new home by the end of this week! just waiting on a dog house is all. yay!

perhaps the punawebber that is going to adopt her will keep us posted on her progress?

So, ultimately, and I know that I will be slammed for this, the cowardly person who dropped off this poor animal gave it a chance. Thanks to Kani, the dog is on it's way to newfound health and happiness. If it had been taken to the humane society, it would be dead now.

I don't condone dropping animals at all, but I have witnessed situations where it is not the worst option.

Sometimes it is hard for us, with our laptops and internet services, not to judge the actions of the chronicly impoverished. There are many here and their reality is one that we cannot imagine.

Boy, I'm gonna get flamed for this, but if it was really the best option to abandon the dog in the woods, then euthanasia should have been considered.
