I would not worry about the bracket unless you have little kids. The bracket is included with stoves because a few kids have opened the door, stepped on it to climb up, and gotten killed when the stove tipped over on them. Probably impossible to tip a stove in any other scenario. Just smack the kids when they touch the stove and don't worry about the bracket.

If you fix it your self dont forget to put some soapy water on the fittings to see if they bubble up....Dont want a gas leak. A teaspoon and shot of dawn should do[:0]

Craig Loomis is a great handyman that changed out the natural gas to propane fitting in my dryer and way cheaper than my time would have been. He also does great carpentry, so I'd recommend him as someone to talk to. Here's his site with pricing:
