The end of an era has come for Jack Thompson last night. His bed and breakfast has regrettably bitten the dust. Madam Pele claimed her property on the evening of Friday 3-2-2012. This is a day to remember. Jack has dodged the bullet for about 30 years out there on the lava. It took about three helicopters to bring back what was precious to him. By three 3pm today all that was left was the water tank. Jack's presence signified that all was still well on the liquid plane. Many have visited him for solitude and pleasure. Others have been given a place of refuge in emergency. All have been blessed. We thank Jack for all that he has been in the community and around the world. Blessings

Yes. He was an emblem of what makes Puna Puna. He is now in Ainaloa. He has another place there. Be careful driving out onto Hwy 130, Jack.

I find it interesting that people once thought Royal Gardens as a great place to live, and now the subdivision is no more. If you look at Leigh Hebert's pictures from Jack's lanai, you can see why he found it hard to leave.

Today has been a week that Jack has given up his home to Madam Pele. We thought that the water would be left standing along with the Norfolk pine still. Noooooooop! Last Monday morning a large persistent flow took the rest of Jack's hard labor and buried it under piles of pahoehoe. You can't hardly tell where Jack's place used to be. Maybe something good will come out of this flow and it will reach the ocean and create another pluming entry. Thanks again Jack!
