D8 or D9
#1
Hi,
Thanks everyone, for indulging my several questions and providing great info. I have one final Q before I decide on someone to do my lot clearing. Does anyone have an opinion about whether the operator should have a D8 or D9 tractor to do it? Are there advantages/disadvantages to one or the other? My guess is that it probably depends on the terrain.
Thanks a lot.

Depending on the terrain is right, but realistically both should be pretty good unless you have something out of the ordinary. The smaller D8 will be a bit more manoeuvrable (assuming a competent operator) while the D9 will be able to pull big stumps and such easier. In short, both would be 'good', one might be a bit better depending on the job.
Me ka ha`aha`a,
Mike

Yes, the lot across from us was recently cleared with a D10. Unfortunately, the owners have not been around for several weeks and I have no idea who operates the D10.

Bigger is better if you are ripping and rolling thru lava. The weight of the larger machine will crush the lava down finer, faster.
