The words "desperate" and "Merrie Monarch" don't go together that well. I hope your guests get their tickets, but I think of Merrie Monarch as a sort of Zen experience, like love: It comes from the most unexpected places and when you pursue it, it sometimes runs away and when you don't, it comes to you as quietly as the squeeze of a hand in a prayer circle. In the meantime, there is hula all around us. I hope your guests take home a dance in their hearts that is a moving prayer to the mountain, the sea, the coconut tree, to the sun, and to the moon as it shines on the water.

BTW: Huge kudos to Kelena & the Puna Mens Chorus.... awesome! (as was the night.... just amazing!) One of the great things about being here right now, world class hula without tickets to the competition...

Carey I called you and texted you and looked for you! Where WERE you? LOL! We were in Row 8 on the floor...center. Tonight WAS great. Kelena was so handsome and the PMC sounded fantastic! I am so proud of you, Kelena! The PMC was right behind the Royal Court - nice.

I'm not as into Auana or Miss Aloha as I am Kahiko. The group from Easter Island was cool and I really had fun with the Tahitian group...WOW, right?! Lookin' forward to Friday night with my friend, Carey at Kahiko night! H-U-L-A Bay-bay!!

Left side of the stage, front row N, right at the ramp - was in line next to Stan Kaina & just kinda went with the flow....( I thought I had charged the phone....but NOOOOOO! - guess ya gotta put the plug in for the juice to flow!) It charged all night... so should be good for Friday -

As the Tahitian group 'sailed' in from the far corners, I was in heaven.... not bad for a free night! & the group from Japan.... can't even image the logistics for bringing that size group here! & the audience did appreciate (loved the response to the older & younger performers for all of the halaus, ... what a thrill!)
