more time for justice (child sex abuse)

"Hawaii significantly strengthened its protections against child sexual abuse last month when Gov. Neil Abercrombie signed a measure extending the statute of limitations for civil lawsuits filed by child victims. At least as important, it opens a one-time two-year window to allow victims to file suits against their abusers even if the time limit had expired under the old law."

I'm all good with that but I wonder if the one-time window thing will survive court challenge.

Long overdue - its the relative backwardness of some (prior) laws that surprise me about hawaii from time to time

Archaic laws like this could make us a haven for the flotsam and jetsam of the mainland and other places.... time to join the 21st century imho

Hope the court expands on the ruling rather than toss out the two year window - could go either way - last I checked local pedophiles did not have much of a lobby or pac - grin

Nice to see the system helping the victim for a change. Its real hard for someone that has been abused to speak up.

'Been down that road - have little tolerance for adults that attack children and the infirm.
