Does anyone have a recommendation for an inexpensive hotel on Kauai? I've been looking online and Aston Islander On The Beach keeps coming up as the least expensive, has anyone stayed there recently?
I'm thinking about taking a mini vacation over there. Doesn't need to be fancy as I like to spend most my time away from the hotel but don't want a flop house or a college spring break type location.

i'd look on craigslist for a vacation rental. we found a good deal for a week during christmas. it included a great studio in princeville and a jeep cherokee for $600.

the palms rents rooms for around 65 a nite, unless holiday or special event week. some rooms have mini kitchens...

Try the Kauai Sands in Kapaa. The hotel was once a sister hotel to the Hilo Seaside. Pretty modest, but clean and affordable.

ya...agree the place in Kapaa is cool ,,beach , restaurants nearby..
