I hve found that if you want vegetables or fruit, do not go to safeway. Huge prices! One papaya could cost over 2 bucks, yes and in hawaii! Ok vegetables go to hilo market, fruit Hilo market. Try KTS for these items as they are at least lower than safeway. Meats go to Sac and save. They are fairly good on meat selection and prices. Safeway only on specials. Do not buy any meat t PUNA FRESH. Im convinced that they get their meats second market. The terriyaki meats they sell are old meat that is not wasted. They just cover up the old decaying meat with teryaki sauce nd sell it as such. Besides their prices being insulting to the locals here. Safeway is good for their 2 for one deals. Canned foods are priced generally better. Fact is there really is no bargin priced stores in hawaii. You just hve to cut coupons and look for specials
