I was thrilled when Allegiant just started a Eugene (Oregon) to Honolulu flight, and at an incredible price. Until I got into the actual booking: extra (I think it was $25) for the seat (I'm not kidding), extra for a carry-on (in addition to the regular checked bag surcharge), and on and on. Such a bait & switch. Still leaves us with getting a flight Honolulu to Hilo. Oh, and it landed in Honolulu after all hopper flights were done for the day. So... just be aware that it may not be such a great deal.

This is what I remember from reading their website last Monday.

There is a fee for checked baggage.

If your carryon fits under the seat, no charge. If your carryon is larger than that, pay a fee, or a second carryon, pay a fee. If you carry it on and it is too large for overhead, you pay more than if you had checked it in advance. I like those rules. Each passenger is paying for the space that they use, not an average fee for all, where the greedy ones can take extra.

For midweek Phoenix/Mesa to Honolulu flights, when they begin several months from now, the introductory price is $179, weekends $199. All Allegiant flights are non-stop. The airport ticket office is only open before and after their flights. If you buy in advance at the airport, you save $10 per person.
