Lead times for permitting
#1
Anyone out there have a realistic expectation of lead times for basic residential dwellings right now?
Any good engineers out there that won't be too crazy with over kill with fill requirements.

Call the building department for lead times.... ask for Erik Erickson.

Building on dirt, or uncertified fill, can be a bad investment if not done right.
Assume the best and ask questions.

three weeks is the current wait time. I am guessing that if you have anything to resubmit it will take that long again.

Three weeks is definitely NOT the current lead time Wink That's just what they always say. Actual lead time is over six months. We've been waiting on two different sets of residential building permits for simple yurt residents for clients now for nearly six months. :| Are you asking about engineers for septic or cesspool or... ??? What kind of engineer? Atlas Engineering is very efficient and Paul and Zelda are great people. They get my vote.

The election is over so expect permits to go back to taking as long as possible. It seems official Hawaii County policy is to keep as many construction workers out of work as possible.

I just put a plan into plan check and was told it would be about two weeks.
