The best thing you can do for Hawai‘i's environment is to vote.

Putting the right people in office is more than half the battle in our conservation work. The Sierra Club has done its best to select the best applicants for the job. Please support these candidates in the upcoming elections.

I posted before. I care not who you vote for. But please, vote. It (in my opinion) is our duty as Americans. A duty above all others.

Mark Twain was an excellent humorist.... I don't much lean on him for voting advice.

Assume the best and ask questions.

Churchill had some interesting little bon mots about politics.
He would have had a field day in the US or here in Hawaii or in Hawai'i
today.
And there are others.[Smile][Smile]

@Rob - Agree, I thought it was humorous, in a grain of truth type of way.

With around 50% of the population in the US between the ages of 16 and 65 in the private sector workforce there is no way for non-progressive ideology to be successfully voted for. There will be more taxes on the productive, more government intrusion into private citizens lives, and more give aways with other people's money. There might be some validity to voting locally but Hawaii is overwhelming progressive so I'll find something productive to do with the day.

Churchill makes a good wartime politician, as he got things done that needed to happen in the immediate. Peacetime, not so much, leans towards the tyranny side of the scale.

Would've thought Sierra Club would endorse the Green Party's Jill Stein instead of same ol'. What a disappointment. 3rd party only.

It doesn't sound like something he would say and indeed, he never said it.

Not true!

From www.WinstonChurchill.org:
quote:
"Rum, sodomy and the lash"

The only traditions of the Royal Navy are rum, sodomy and the lash. - -- Churchill's assistant, Anthony Montague-Browne said that although Churchill had not uttered these words, he wished he had.

And I know this is true because I got it on the internet.
