Can somebody please remind me of the name of the restaurant across from KTA in Hilo on the corner just up from the farmers market, it has the open air seating?
I need to give directions and can't remember the name of the place.
Mahalo in advance.
enjoy.

From all reports the two experiences are very different.

Sounds like it is, if it's Pineapples (or the old luna place), River DON'T GO. Steve and I went the other night. It was terrible. Terrible food, crap service, expensive price. We even had to pour our own water.

We ate there one time and the annoyance of noisy traffic was unbearable for those of us who like to talk to each other in a restaurant!

I went right after it opened (terrible service, but that happens with new places), and again a few weeks later after the FIRST time it changed management--good food, good service that time. Haven't been since it reimagined itself as Pineapples.

It's Pineapples. Sisters took over the brother's former Casa de Luna. We've had great experiences and food at Pineapples and very mediocre food when it was Casa. The service is good at Pineapples, but the music can be loud.

Based on the mixed reviews but having never been to Pineapples myself, my incomplete take is that 1) their quality control sucks, and 2) they consistently play their music too loud. Neither is appealing to me. Don't want to take my chances on a hit-or-miss restaurant, so I'll likely never go. But If I do, I'll definitely report back!
