Great food.
The wait staff that we had was very inexperienced.
With better staff, it could really be a 10.
Did not have their beer and wine license when we were there.

Darn, that's too bad. Myself and three other ladies occasionally went there on Friday evening for dinner and visited for two hours or more. What we liked was sitting at the tables outside.

Why don't more restaurants have tables outside?

Nana,

I agree dining al fresco is ideal, however, dining al "parking lot" is not.

Maybe thay answers your question? I've enjoyed many a meal outdoors in europe and I notice, with exceptions, most of their outside eateries have access to a square or plaza, i.e. somewhere fossil fuel burning vehicles are not present.

I also wish there was more choices to eat outside it only seems practical with our climate (climate, lol).

Wow...that place just doesn't seem to have a very good track record. I don't know how many different eateries have come and gone in the last 10 years. But I bet if they put a Taco Bell in there....it would last forever! LOL

The next thing will probably fail too -- Keaau can't really support that kind of restaurant, especially with "less than stellar" food and no liquor license.

Last time we ate there, the hostess (a relative of the owner, I think) said they were just working out the end of the lease, and that losses through the bar (free drinks, theft) were what sent Hokulani's under.

Although it was basically the same people as Hokulani's, I didn't like the food from Native Pasta and Steaks nearly as much. We ate there twice, then decided to wait for the next incarnation. I think they should call it "Charlie's Paradise Hokulani and Steaks"
