The Dish website mentions
nothing.

". . .As a result, on August 1, 2013, Dish Network customers could lose access to KGMB and KHNL.
We understand how frustrating this is for you. We share your frustration. After all, you pay Dish Network 100% of your bill each month. Why shouldn't you get 100% of your channels? You can reach Dish Network Service Rep at 1-888-789-2630 to voice your concern. . ."

KGMB has had the notice about this on their bottom scroll & announcement ...for at least all summer (I have not paid as much attention, as old school antennae... but they have had the info out there... Did DIsh scramble that info on their telecast?

I find the whole thing extremely amusing. Gee, didn't we just go through this drama with Oceanic last month?
KGMB really wants Dish to pay them more for the "privilege" of carrying KGMB on the Dish net, but I seriously think they have this completely backwards, especially considering that KGMB doesn't have 100% terrestrial ATSC coverage.
If you want any results or satisfaction on this one, don't call KGMB *or* Dish. Call the advertisers whose ads are not being seen. After all, they're still paying 100% of their advertising dollar right? And somehow not reaching 100% of the potential viewership because the carriers are playing "my sandbox" like spoiled 2-year-olds.

Who owns KGMB? RAYCOM does. Raycom wants more money not kgmb.
Dish keeps their prices very low compared to Direct. In my opinion, direct tv just says ok to all rate increases, thats why direct tv costs almost twice what dish does. I know this because I have had both and currently have dish.
If Raycom wants more money from dish to air those networks and dish agrees to price increase, guess who pays more in the end? We do, not dish. Thats why they are in negotiations for a fair price. All cable and dish providers go through this almost yearly at some point. The key is how they handle it in negotiations.

I called DISH c/s today and they gave me a $5 a month credit for 6 months ($30 total) for this inconvenience.
Got the credit for both my acct and my mother's house.
1-888-926-5481 is their #.
A news article I read said most markets are giving some type of rebate. As I understand 30 markets were affected by this CBS/Raycom issue.
ETA: There was no debate about rebate or anything. Just zap on my acct! Also except for news , I dont really care about Hawaii 5-0. It was the principle as stated above that DISH says about paying 100% of the bill and I am happy to see that they are standing behind their "product".

The other part of this that's really funny: people who signed contracts and paid money are inconvenienced by this disupute, but the "evil pirates" who download ("steal") the copyrighted material right off the interwebs are completely unaffected.

Thanks KC. Good suggestion. I got the $5 off for 6 months + some free previews for 3 months, Pixil, & ch 185-189. Hopefully Dish is also getting motivated to do something soon.

We only have 11 over the air channels, but they are all free. We have amazon prime and Netflix DVDs to make up the difference, and save about $100/month and don't spend any time channel surfing or watching many commercials. I don't miss paying for TV at all. I don't care that the TV series we are watching originally aired about a year ago, considering that we pocketed $1200 in that year.
