Our Amorphophallus Titanum (Corpse Plant) will be blooming in the near future. It was 40” tall yesterday and is growing at the rate of 3 to 4” a day. Here are photos from yesterday (July 27th, 2011).

Might stop by to have a look if I have time.

I guess it's suppose to look something like this.

What part of the zoo is the flower in? I'd really like to just run in real quick and take a peek.

It has always been just "beyond" the restrooms (on this map, Left of the bathrooms, between the lizards & snapping turtles (well, usually WITH the snapping turtles) (oh, the entrance on the map is to the lower right, just below the water garden blue, you will want to either go through the anteater/crane/axis deer/spidersquirrel monkey/nene cage, or, I am guessing you WILL want to travel outside that cage & along the Macaw/ parrot path.....)

Here's a pic of it from about an hour ago. Looks like Saturday, it will be more open and smelly: http://www.e-z-caps.com/images/corpseFlower1.jpg

Is the smell really overpowering/noxious? I don't know what a corpse smells like and I'm not really sure I want to lol. It looks amazing in photos though.

It's not that bad. The buzzing of the flies is impressive! Definitely worth a visit.
