Pet Peeves, or Just Plain Anouyances.

Yesterday I was down at our multi-million dollar county building when I realized I had to pay for parking. Well o.k I will pay for the parking I thought, I grabbed all my silver and proceeded to put over $2 in. The meter did not register any of this change. I then went into the county building asked the guards who looked at me like I was stupid. They said you got to read the 2 inch by 2 inch sign on the meter. I was stunned, thought I read it very carefully. They tell me it says takes quarters only. After going through the checking area I proceeded to get quarters at their cashier window ( she was very helpful). I went back out to my car and took a better look at these meters, had to stand tippy toe to see a different angle. I am 5"9 probably not the tallest but COMMON were in Hilo, could be free of inconvienences. Anyway I am sure everyone has something they would like to add 2 cents too, or just make a point of DIFFERANCE. Peace, AND LETS KEEP IT CLEAN.

The guards may have been surprised that you were even putting money in the meter. Smile

Well my pet peeve is the "restaurants" at both the Hilo and Kona airports. First of all, the food they manage to regurgitate and sell makes McDonalds look like Morton's Steak House.

But the absolute most annoying part of the peeve is that they manage to close these garbage food restaurants right at the most busiest time the airport is in operation!

In Kona especially, every night there are 2 to 4 mainland flights that depart Kona after 8PM. And yet the restaurant manages to close right at that time. With the potential of having up to 600 patrons - they find it necessary to close up shop.

And the one or two on duty workers sure don't like serving people, but they sure love to close up shop!

I think both these food outlets in both the Kona and Hilo Airports could be gold mines if first they served food better than dog food grade, but in order to do that, they need to be open.

I travel extensively from the Big Island to the mainland and am in Airports all across the country. Never have I seen such poorly managed food places in any Airport whatsoever than what we have right here in either the Kona or Hilo Airports.

Be happy you didn't have a parking ticket waiting for you when you returned with the quarters.

I usually park at longs and walk across the street to the DMV. Most of the good parking spaces in the front are reserved for employees. Kinda says something of how they treat the public in general. Most Businesses make their employees park in the back or in the furthest spots from the building in order to make more space available for their customers. Oh but not our High Maka Maka government employees that live off the taxes we pay them.
One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.

Well I was at the new county building. The funny thing was, after I put yet another dollar of quarters in the same meter that took all my other silver. I went back in to ask the 3 guards standing around talking story, where is mr ------- Office? They again looked at me stupid and said that his office is in the building behind the county building. That was quite a walk and I had plenty of time to laugh at myself. $3.00, a long walk, made me think of the inconvienences we all might go through daily. Peace out. P.S I'm sure we all have these peeves everyday.

Whenever I have to go to an unfamiliar area of Hilo, I check out Google Earth. I click to Street View and can see from a driver's perspective the other buildings in the area, the parking situation, etc. By the time I arrive, it's like the second time I've been there, not the first.

loud motorcycles (or cars / trucks) bright headlights, rooster farmers, dogs barking constantly, loud late parties every weekend (or screaming marital fights), basically "inconsiderate people" covers all these and more I guess. That's my list of pet peeves in 2 words. Inconsiderate People.
